New financial support for Italian companies in protecting intellectual property

Various measures have been published in the last few days to support those who protect intellectual property in Italy, which provide access to various forms of financial support, listed here below.
VOUCHER 3I – Investing In Innovation
The decree supporting start-ups in the patenting of inventions has been published in the Official Gazette
Voucher 3I – Investing In Innovation set forth in the Growth Decree, which aims to support innovative start-ups with the process of patenting and enhancement of their technological and digital investments. Financial resources of 6.5 million euros for each year of the three-year period 2019-2021 are available for this measure.
What has been established?
The decree establishes both the services that can be acquired by the companies concerned, and the amounts granted through Voucher 3I:
2,000 euros + IVA for consultancy services relating to prior art searches and verification of the patentability of the invention;
4,000 euros + IVA for consultancy services relating to the drafting of the patent application and filing with the UIBM;
6,000 euros + IVA for consultancy services relating to the filing of the national patent application abroad.
Voucher 3I only concerns the services listed above and does not cover costs related to taxes and fees relating to the filing. The company pays for the services used by using the Voucher 3I in its possession, handing it over to the service providers.
It is understood that each company can apply, for one or more of the services as above, to receive Voucher 3Iat most in relation to three different patents per year.

The incentives relating to the following measures have been reinstated: Patents+, Trademarks+3 and Designs+4, the Italian Ministry for Economic Development has published the calls for bids concerning the optimization of patents, trademarks and designs which are summarized below.
TRADEMARKS+3
Fund: 3.5 million euro
The incentive is recognized for the purchase of specialized services for the registration of European trademarks and international trademarks.
Beneficiaries can be micro, small and medium-sized companies.
Applications must be submitted to Unioncamere from the 30th March 2020 and until funds are exhausted.
The incentive is recognized for the purchase of specialized services for the economic optimization of a patent in terms of profitability, productivity and market development.
Beneficiaries can be micro, small and medium-sized companies, including innovative start-ups, to which 15% of the allocated resources are reserved.
The subsidies consist of a capital contribution, in compliance with the de minimis rule, with a maximum value of 140,000 euros.
Applications must be submitted to Invitalia from the 30th January 2020 until funds are exhausted.
The incentive is recognized for the purchase of specialized services for the optimization of single or multiple designs and models registered as of the 1st January 2018.
Beneficiaries can be micro, small and medium-sized companies.
Applications must be submitted to Unioncamere from the 27th February 2020 and until funds are exhausted.
